A child deserves to do more than just survive. Our passion is to see them thrive.
All we do is centered around the rescue, rehabilitation and restoration of orphaned children. We supply what children need to flourish and succeed in life. We begin by meeting their basic, immediate needs, then build upward from that foundation. Our children come from desperate, tragic situations, but we believe that holistic care and the love of Jesus can radically change any life.

Residential Care
Otino Waa Children’s Village began in 2003 as a mission to rescue 78 orphans who were being targeted by the LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army) to be abducted as child soldiers. Today, Otino Waa houses over 300 orphaned children and has onsite medical and dental clinics, primary and secondary schools, vocational training centers, and a café that is open to the public. Children live in houses of 8 and are cared for by House Moms, who are widows from the community.
Children as young as the age of 5 are accepted each year, as space allows, and continue with us through graduation from secondary school.

Community Based Care
Community Based Care (CBC) children continue to live in their home villages with a relative or guardian who desires to care for them, but who lacks the means to provide for their basic needs. Through CBC, they receive necessities like food, medical care, clothing and education. The local church, pastors and our social workers ensure that each child is cared for and safe at home. Through the support of donors like you, we are able to provide for the child while bringing hope and stability to the family and community by meeting tangible needs. The CBC model enables us to stretch our resources further and ultimately serve exponentially more children than ever before.
We’ve seen incredible transformation in our CBC children – as well as their families! Money otherwise spent on medical care, food and education is being redirected and enabling families to start businesses, build a home, buy an animal or plant a field. We also see a transformation in how orphans are viewed. Orphans who were once seen as a burden are now seen as the hope for a brighter future.
Education
Education is key in breaking the cycle of generational poverty. For a girl in a poor, rural area, remaining in school and learning can protect her from child marriage, partner violence and cyclical poverty. For a boy, education instead of child labor can equip him with the skills needed to pursue a better-paying career as an adult. Education provides a sense of normalcy, safety and the knowledge needed to build a more stable, peaceful future.
In both Ethiopia and Uganda, we partner with top performing schools to meet the educational needs of our Community Based Care children. We also improve the schools we work with to the benefit of our CBC children and all the other students, teachers and staff.
At Otino Waa, we have primary and secondary schools to educate our residential children and to combat educational facility disparity. The Otino Waa schools continue to perform and rank well nationally.
