Scholastic Materials Distribution – Boke, Ethiopia
We recently traveled to Boke Woreda, a region a few hours from Chiro, to distribute some scholastic materials to a few schools. This area is extremely poor and many of the children either do not attend school, or only attend occasionally because they are needed at home to work.
In Ethiopia, the cost of education is paid for by the government, but families are still required to pay for uniforms, books, writing materials and things like that. This may seem like an insignificant cost, but for many families, the cost of supplies is out of reach and so they are unable to send their children to school. We have partnered with several schools in Boke to provide materials for the poorest of the poor. This will allow the children to attend school and get the education that they are so greatly in need of.
