Urgent Needs in Congo
Friends, right now we are helping feed over 400 newly orphaned children in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It’s a heartbreaking situation, and each day, more children are turning up orphaned.
Violent rebel groups are attacking villages. These rebel groups are believed to be splintered off from the LRA which originated in Uganda and is what lead to the start of Otino Waa Children’s Village 20 years ago.
This video is from Reverend Dicken’s trip to Congo to see where the orphaned children are staying and assess the situation.
Reverend Dickens, our Ugandan Director, visited the Congo several months ago to meet with his network of Ugandan and Congolese pastors and visit the orphans. As the fighting has continued, more and more children are finding their way out of the bush and into the town of Kasindi, where our pastor contacts live.
When Reverend last visited, there were about 200 orphaned children. Today, the number has reached over 400!
They are currently being cared for by a Christian woman who gave up her successful job in banking to help the orphans. Right now, local churches are pulling together what they have to help feed the children. They are living in temporary wooden huts.
But with this sudden increase to 400 children, the needs are overwhelming and sadly, we expect there will be many more orphans coming soon as the fighting continues in this area.
These vulnerable, newly orphaned children are facing starvation, unclean water, disease, trauma, illiteracy, and neglect.
PATH has stepped in to help provide food, soap and hope to the children, but we want to do so much more. We NEED to do so much more.
This Congolese effort is not in our current budget. The best way to help in Congo is to Join the Hope Collective by committing to giving a recurring donation. Your monthly support will help us bring consistent, emergency aid to these desperate children. It will help us plan and budget, as well as expand the aid we are providing to meet more of the needs.

These three children arrived yesterday. Their parents were just killed and they are seeking shelter with the other orphaned children.
We will keep you updated as the situation continues to develop. For now, would you please lift up these precious children in your prayers, pray for their healing, provision and that the fighting in Congo would stop. And please consider signing up to give monthly with the Hope Collective.
you consider their grief and take it in hand.
The victims commit themselves to you;
you are the helper of the fatherless.”
Psalm 10:14
